Hi
According to me Kanpur is the second largest city in northern India ,after New Delhi.As far as its civic facilities goes there is still some work has to be done because whatever sanitation facility was there , it was excellent few years back but due to population explosion more has to be done.Education in Kanpur is better than even New Delhi(Even though Delhi has some of the bigger names in education i.e Sanskriti & Modern School which everyone cannot afford)I do have a dream for Kanpur but if only new generation is ready to help & stop chewing Paan Masala & spitting everywhere.

Hi I was In Kanpur 1980 I did B.Com from Har Sahai Degree College at P Road. it was very nice to me that days I with my friends enjoyed very much Lived At R.K. Nagar later on in Prem Nagar those time city was full of Industries like.JK,Elgin,Lal Imli,swadeshi etc realy now it seen very painful that almost Industries shut down realt it very painful bur Kanpur is ever green lovely histro city Now I am in N.Delhi since Oct 1980 workinG Taxation in MNC like to see anybody for that period 1978-80 HS Degree college, Prem Nagar, R.K Nagar

Yar tum sab log pagal ho. You need tell people about mother. kanpur is like my mother. I am born brought up there. I know each every gali , motijheel me cricket, football. I will suggest all of you to go around kanpur
1. go for boat ride at bithoor excellent place avoid transport or else go by cycle once in a month.
2. Go to shoban near shivrajpur.
3 Enjoy walking at CSA and Medical College.
I have seen kanpur from Chekeri jajmau to naramau and bithoor and nawabganj to shyam nagar
every thing is good. but because of only metroplis in and around for 6 districts it attacts people for livelyhood.You cant help for that. Govt has to create value at village level and implement some prog so that this migration stops or reduced to certain extent.
And pl try to vote for good people who can do something for people instead of filling their pockets. Go to motijheel banarsi chai wale ke pass and have a tea and then buy badnam laddu misra mattewale(top quality stuff).

About kanpur,I would like to share my views. Being a manchaster,kanpur is well known for leather Industry.But due to power supply,The city become failure with respect to trade.Winding up of companies due to power failure and pollution.Basic amenities are no more.

Kanpur jaisa koi city is duniya me nahi hai.Agar kahi jannat hai to wo hai only in the kanpur.So plz respect the kanpur city.Mujhe unlogo se bahut nafrat hai jo kanpur me rahta hai aur kanpur ki burai karte hai.

I lived in Kanpur, Harjindar Nagar, Chakeri from 1965 to 1981. Nobody ever mentioned HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, my employer and my first job as Asst. Industral Engineer) the only multi-purpose (defence and civil) passenger transport aircraft manufactured in India under licence from Hawker Siddley Aviation Manchester (UK), Dornier passenger aircraft, as well as gliders and pilot trainer aircrafts for flying clubs etc. at HAL Transportation Division Chakeri, Kanpur.

Yes, I do agree Kanpur during my time there (1965-1981) was an exotic city and I did enjoy everyday of my stay there, but my only comment is that personal hygeine by locals is at its worst. (I am referring to the open toilet conditions which used to be clened by the lower caste 'harijans' everyday) This is my reakky bad memory of Kanpur which I still carry in my mind. I do hope that by now every household in Kanpur (including the villages and dehats) have western style toilets with water flushing system which does not involve human beings in handling/cleaning other peoples excreta/dirt).

I too hail from kanpur...I love the city without no reason as its mine city & birthplace too.
as travelling around the world & india one should admit that kanpur has to go a long way..
agreed that once upon a time was manchester of india or commercial hub but it is now ??? nothing much more than a populated & polluted city where civic sense is BIG zero among the citizens ( I apologize if am hurting anyone's sentiments) spits of pan n masal all around pigs n cows on roads ( I doubt if we can call them roads exept few) lack of infrastructure...basic aminities are treated as luxury.....
traffic No comments....drainage system no comments either.....

Hi friends... this is just my small knowledge about immensity of kanpur...

Educational aspects:

1) IIT - i guess no 1 or 2 in all IIT's in INDIA.
2) HBTI - no 1 engg college in UP.
3) GSVM - no 2 medical college in UP.
4) CSA - no 2 in agriculture university after Pant nagar and has recognision in Asea.
5) NSI - i guess only sugar institute in India.
6) Leather institute - The best insitute in leather technology atleast in india.
7) BEST Coachings - kanpur has best coachings and teachers for civil services, engineering, medical and all competetive exams.

Industrial aspects:

Once kanpur was told MANCHESTER of Asea because of its industries like --
1) LAL IMLI - has been best woolen mill
2) JK Joot mill - has been best joot mill
3) ELGIN mill
4) MUER mill
5) VICTORIA mill
6) ATHERTON mill and many others

Mythological and Historical aspects:

Kanpur has great Mythological and Historical aspects like --
1) SARSHAIYA GHAT
2) DHRUV TILLA
3) BITHOOR
4) JK TEMPLE and many other...

apart from this kanpur has biggest ZOO after calcutta in India.......
this is my knowledge.... if I forgot to write something ..... please let me know...

I lived in Kanpur till the age of 20 and went to school HSJS/BNSD and DAV college. Then I came to London 1956. If you compare Kanpur to London you would be shockeddespite the fact that london is not very clean compared to many European capitals

Chandan, rohit, vipin, and everyone who is speaking ill of kanpur...Let me tell you one thing guys.I hail from Kanpur I've been to Bangalore, NEw delhi,Gurgaon and every swanky and happening place in INDIA. But I tell you what ""KANPUR IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE""" .HUMANITY, HUMILITY and IT"s Culture is incredible...Probably you don't know much about Kanpur...I would like to bring following facts int o your notice::::
1-It was called as Manchester of India before independence.
2-It is the largest producer of Leather goods.
3-It is an Industrial city..
4- Manu Freedom fighter were from this exotic place like NANa saheb e.t.c
5-It also played an important part in the first war of independence(1987).
WE have IIT( one of the best technology institute in the whole world)
<HBTI<GSVM and many more...
now malls are being constructed...
Station is being renovated..
WE have the AIRFORCE STATION>>
What else you want..KANPur is being criticised beacause of the stupid people like ROHIT MISHRA..Chandan Kashyap and Vipin Sharma...
Boys open your eyes and I urge you please make Kanpur a lovely place t olive in....
don't tarnish the image of kanpur....It's holiness.
It's serenity..
KANPUR IS KNOWN INTERNATIONALLY guys...WHERE ARE THE hell you are ....

Rohit mishra and rajesh shukla jaise logon ne he kanpur ka nam kharab kiya. kanpur log delhi mumbai aur bangalore se achhe hain, delhi me selfish aur ghamandi log rahte hai jo wakai mein kuchh nahi hain par apne ko bahut hoshiya samajhte hain. Delhi jaisa ganda shahar nahi hai koi. sirf kuchh ek places pe shopping malls aur building hone se shahar achha nahi hota. These are the people who make any city or place beautiful
